Letter from the Head of Secondary - 7th April 2016

07 四月 2016

I hope that you all enjoyed the recent break, whether you were relaxing at home with friends and family, or travelling to explore new places, and that you have returned refreshed and ready for the term ahead.

We ended Term 2 on a high, with a fantastic array of events for International Week, as well as a wonderful IB Art exhibition and evening of international music. The student-organised lunchtime concert on the Friday was certainly one of my favourite events of the term, and a lovely way to send us into the holidays. More events like this one are being planned for Term 3, to showcase students’ talents and harness community spirit in the Secondary school.

Term 3 can be viewed from different perspectives. From a Year 11 or Year 13 student’s perspective, it is the examination term, and I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our students who are sitting IGCSE or IB examinations the very best of luck, and I hope that they achieve the results that they so richly deserve. The examinations officially begin next week, with language oral examinations and art practical exams, followed a couple of weeks later by more language orals and ICT practical exams. The written exams begin on 2 May (even though that is officially a public holiday!) and continue until 20 May for IB students, and 17 June for IGCSE students. We will also be running internal exams for students in Years 7,8,9,10 and 12, which will take place during the period 23 May to 3 June – detailed schedules for these will be published later this month.

This term, however, is not all about exams, and there are plenty of trips, sports events, arts events, parent information events, graduations and celebrations to look forward to. Awards assemblies are taking place over the next few weeks, and year leaders will be sending reminders for parents to attend these very shortly.

We look forward to you joining us at many of these events to support our students and to celebrate their achievements in all aspects of school life.
