International Leader

Bruno arrived at Pudong in year 9 from his native Brazil with very little English. Two and a half years later he achieved 8 A* grades in his IGCSEs and later graduated with 42 points.

Bruno was awarded the prestigious ‘International Leaders of Tomorrow Award’ (ILOT), a scholarship which would grant him 50% discount off his tuition at the University of British Columbia. Only a handful of students (70 in this particular year) are given this kind of opportunity.

The ILOT Award recognizes international students who demonstrate superior academic achievement, leadership skills, involvement in student affairs and community service, recognised achievement in fields of endeavour such as the performing arts, sports, debating or creative writing, or external academic competitions and examinations.

Bruno’s future academic flair and leadership potential is further substantiated by acceptances for the London School of Economics and also Amherst in the USA.  Additionally, he has made the waiting-list for Williams, Cornell and UChicago, all of them with financial aid which is no mean feat for an international student.

In total Bruno was accepted by 6 Universities, made the reserve list for 3, was pooled by Cambridge University and was granted the International Leaders of Tomorrow Award.

Bruno went on to score 42 points at IB (the top score possible being 45) he chose to study at The London School of Economics, number 4 in the world's university rankings.
