We plan to dedicate our free time to raise awareness for those in need. RAG stands for Raising Awareness for Giving, so by raising awareness we hope to make people think about those in need of our help and realise that not everyone has privileged lives like we do.
Every form class in Year 12 has split up into groups and every group will focus on one of these charities to raise awareness. We will raise awareness in the Secondary and the Primary school by doing activities with the Primary children, putting up posters in Secondary, making presentations, speeches and much more.
RAG week also makes us Year 12 IB students understand not to take everything we have or get for granted and realise that we are lucky to lead such privileged lives, and that’s why we are aiming to raise awareness amongst the younger students who might not know much about these charities that help people in need.
RAG week also can help to achieve some of our personal goals. For example, communication; we had to split up into groups and each group had to have equality in gender and nationality. This makes us sometimes work with people who we usually don’t work with. Other personal goals like commitment can also be met; this is done by us really committing to our charity that we are raising awareness for. Researching into our charity really helps us understand better what we are actually raising awareness for.
Overall RAG week is about raising awareness for charities and reaching personal goals and we can’t wait for it to begin.
