What are the top benefits of an international education at the British International School, HCMC? We know that when it comes to choosing a school for your child, there are many factors to consider. Between public, private and international schools, a lot of choices exist, but which school is the right one? Here we share some of the top reasons why an international education with us is a great decision for your child.

We know that when it comes to choosing a school for your child, there are many factors to consider. Between public, private and international schools, a lot of choices exist, but which school is the right one? Here we share some of the top reasons why an international education with us is a great decision for your child.

Our track record for successfully preparing students for the future

Our school teaches an internationally recognised curriculum including IBDP and IGCSE. These qualifications have been chosen by our school because they provide a comprehensive and well-rounded curriculum, a competitive edge on any student's university application, and the opportunity to study subjects which set our students up for ambitious degree choices ahead. For exciting future pathways, these qualifications are so important because they are recognised by the top universities around the world. At BIS HCMC we consistently hold the top performing IBDP results in Vietnam, with our most recent Class of 2021 Graduates earning the best results in the school's history. This included 6 students earning a perfect score of 45 points, 18 students achieving a near perfect score of 44 points and an average point score of 40.4 compared to the world average of 33.02.

We are part of a family of 73 Nord Anglia schools based in 30 countries around the world. The community each of our students is part of gives them a unique connection with peers who live in countries they may have never visited and cultures different to their own. Through their shared online platform Global Campus, our students learn about each other, celebrate their cultures and work together on projects.

Our passion for world-leading education

To teach at our international school, it is essential to hold a qualification in international teaching. We are proud to have a team of teachers who have been trained at some of the best institutes around the world and, importantly, are truly passionate about their jobs and about setting our students up for success.

We have relationships with some of the world’s leading institutes, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, UNICEF and The Juilliard School. Through our exclusive collaborations with these institutes, our students benefit from one-of-a-kind experiences, like visiting the MIT campus and attending UNICEFs High Level Political Forum, to contributions from each to their curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities.

We guide our students to become true global citizens

One of the main reasons parents prioritise an international education is for the global perspective and international-mindedness it teaches their child. Within our curriculum, extracurricular activities and community service activities, students are taught to think beyond the classroom, understand their role within the wider community, and learn about how they can impact the world. One of the opportunities we offer, for example, is for students to attend an expedition to Tanzania during which they work with the local community to help construct sustainable developments. We pride ourselves on offering truly unique opportunities for our students.

Personalised learning and Wellbeing for your child

At the British International School HCMC, we think about personalisation from a more holistic perspective. Whilst outstanding academic outcomes  are important to open up opportunities to students, at BIS  the focus is on a holistic education that balances academic outcomes with charter development and wellbeing. Pastoral support, diverse co-curricular and leadership programmes and a bespoke  Wellbeing Curriculum all combine to ensure students leave BIS with the skills to flourish wherever their passions take them. We appreciate that world issues will impact every individual differently. In this last year alone, our students across the school have encountered challenges they will never have experienced before. It would be unrealistic to expect that they will be unaffected by this, academically, emotionally and socially. Despite the challenges of virtual learning our students were able to follow regular academic timetables of classes and daily routines. Every student was able to receive high-quality teaching and learning balanced with pastoral support to maintain both their progress and wellbeing.

An example of this is how every day, students were able to attend online classes and meetings, retaining communication. Students, parents, and teachers could always support and encourage each other. Both academic progress and wellbeing are always monitored and appropriately supported. Pupils younger than four years old received an individual learning/activity material kit “SPLAT Box” (SPLAT standing for “Stay Play Learn All Together”) to aid with their online learning.

At BIS we understand that it is crucial to cultivate a strong relationship between the school and the home, and this is in fact why many parents choose to trust their children with us. In our recent parent survey one parent expressed that ‘Watching our childrens’ happiness, wellbeing, maturity, relationships, activities and academic performance develop and progress over time gave us confidence in the school’s strong beneficial impact on them.’ The same survey showed that 94% of parents are happy at BIS, and with another parent communicating that ‘Virtual learning was outstanding in difficult times’ it is evident that our highly qualified staff have developed an outstanding virtual experience that continues to develop and improve with the latest research.
