Julie Jackson

Head of Student Support Services

BSc (Hons.) in Psychology (BPS Accredited). University of Wales, Bangor, UK
Post Graduate Certificate in Education with QTS. York St. John University, York, UK
Postgraduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs and Disability;  National Award for SEND Coordination. Middlesex University, London, UK

Julie started her teaching career in 2007 at a small inner-city school in the UK. Her interest and skills in special educational needs quickly became apparent and soon after she became a class teacher at a private special needs school for students with emotional, social, behavioural and mental health difficulties in Lancashire. Julie left the UK in 2012 and made the move to Vietnam to take up her first international post as a Learning Support Teacher. During her time in Vietnam, Julie was promoted to Community Services Coordinator and later became Learning Support Leader.

Julie joined NAE in Vietnam in 2012, and worked in both sister schools in Ho Chi Minh City before moving to BISB as Head of Student Support Services in 2018.

In 2016 Julie completed the UK National Award for SEND Coordination. She is also a trained Duke of Edinburgh International Award Foundation Leader and Assessor, Eco-Schools assessor, and she also holds a certificate for Children’s Yoga and Mindfulness.

Julie is ambitious for all her students, whether they learn differently or at a different pace, or if they need more or less time to attain developmental levels or proficiency in academic subjects.

Julie believes in educating the ‘whole-child’. She believes that education must inspire a student’s creativity, imagination, compassion, self-knowledge, social skills and emotional health, so that they can become committed, responsible and fulfilled citizens of the world.

Julie loves travelling and exploring different cuisines. She also enjoys crafting, socialising with friends, and getting stuck into a good book. She practises yoga and mindfulness and loves being in the outdoors, either hiking and camping or having picnics.
