Catherine Jones Compass Doha
Catherine Jones
Director of Early Years
With over 30 years of experience in the UK and international settings, Catherine brings a wealth of expertise to her role as Director of Early Years at Compass International Schools in Doha. Her career has included leadership positions such as Head of Pre-Prep in the UK and Head of an international Kindergarten in Doha, where she fostered inclusive, nurturing environments that supported both children and educators.

Her strengths include pastoral care, curriculum design, safeguarding, and team leadership, underpinned by a commitment to child welfare and evidence-based practice. She has also led whole-school improvement initiatives, supported accreditation processes, and built strong, multicultural school communities.

A graduate of the University of Reading with a Bachelor of Education (Hons), she combines experience and enthusiasm to advance Early Years provision through innovation, care, and visionary leadership.

Sultan Ososanya
Director of Performing Arts
Sully is passionate about building inclusive, high-impact arts education that inspires students to become confident performers, collaborators, and creative thinkers. With experience leading curriculum design, teacher development, and collaborations with organisations such as Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Sony Music and the National Youth Orchestra amongst others, he creates immersive opportunities that bring the arts to life and raise the profile of creative education across the school.

Bus Service

Getting to Compass has never been easier

No matter which campus is right for your child, we want to make getting there as easy as possible. Families choosing Themaid can drop their child off at our Madinat Khalifa shuttle bus stop, with our school shuttle taking them to Themaid and back again.

Our school bus service is operated by Karwa. Parents can find out more about pricing and download the Rihla App through the App Store or Google Play, which makes it easy to keep track of your child’s bus journey.

Performing arts
Each year, our students have the opportunity to take part in our school production, with everyone welcome to get involved on stage or behind the scenes. Our Performing Arts ECA gives students dedicated time to rehearse, develop their confidence and creativity, and prepare for the production, alongside other exciting performing arts opportunities throughout the year.

Sports
Your child can do what they love or try something new at our sports clubs. Activities such as football and swimming are offered throughout the year, with options subject to change each term. Families will receive the latest information on the sports available and how to sign up.

We offer options such as Spanish and Dutch, with our Dutch programme accredited by LanguageOne, helping students grow in confidence while developing their communication skills and appreciation of our international community.

  • What are the differences between your two campuses?

    Although we’re one school community, each of our campuses offers students something slightly different.

    Our Madinat Khalifa campus offers both primary and secondary education up to Year 11.

    Our Themaid campus provides a complete educational journey from the early years through to Year 13 via our Compass PLUS programme, offering both A-levels and the IBDP.

  • What nationalities are represented at your school?
    Our school community is home to children and families from more than 80 countries around the world. 
  • Where can I find term and other important dates?
    You’ll find all our key dates on the school calendar.
  • Are you a boarding school?
    No, we don’t provide student accommodation.
  • What curricula will my child follow?
    At Compass, we teach a combination of the best in British and international curricula. Our youngest learners (ages 3-5) follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). In our primary classes (ages 5-11), students learn through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Lower secondary students (ages 11-14) follow the English National Curriculum. Our Key Stage 4 learners (ages 14-16) study for their International GCSEs. And at 16-19, our students have the unique opportunity to choose between A-levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
  • How do A-levels and the IBDP differ?

    Our 16 to 19-year-old students are in the unique position of being able to choose between A-levels or the IBDP. Both academic pathways are highly regarded across the world and recognised by the best universities.

    Our A-level students typically specialise in four subjects, alongside extra-curricular activities and projects.

    Our IBDP students study subjects in six thematic groups, as well as being assessed in core competencies, abilities, and values.  

  • At what time does the school day begin and finish?

    Madinat Khalifa

    Gates open at 6.45 am.

    The school start time is 7.15 am. Students need to arrive at 7 am.

    Registration period for all phases (EY to Secondary) 7.15 am to 7.30 am

    • Classes start for all phases: 7:15 am
    • School finishes for Early Years at 12 pm
    • School finished for Primary and Secondary at 2 pm
    • School finishes for all phase on Thursdays at 12pm

    Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs)

    • Sunday to Wednesday: 2 pm to 3 pm
    • Thursday: 12pm to 2pm
