Last week the British International School Hanoi hosted ten universities from the Colleges that Change Lives Tour. Throughout the week we also hosted individual schools from the US and the UK. On Friday we had a large fair of 17 schools with 10 being from Australia and 7 from the US. It was a great opportunity for students to see two very different systems.

We are continuing the transition from ICT to Computer Science and have introduced IGCSE Computer Science at British International School Hanoi this year. This is a very different course to ICT, instead focusing on the principles of computing and problem solving through algorithmic design.
To celebrate Tet this year at British International School Hanoi, there are contributions from students of all classes from the Primary and Secondary school. All the songs and dances that are performed by the students in this New Spring Welcome Program demonstrate the cultural diversity of Vietnam with the aim of preserving and honoring the traditional cultural values of the Vietnamese people.
Last weekend a selection of Year 9 and 10 students visited Ba Vi National Park in order to strengthen their understanding of river systems and practise many of the skills they will need when they do their IGCSE Geography coursework in Year 11. Here is an account of the trip from Audrey in Year 10.
Representatives attending the Nord Anglia regional conference visited the secondary section, this week. The guests received a tour of the school from six of our Year 10 students. The principal of the British International School of Ho Chi Minh City, Tim Deyes, commented on how impressed he was by our student guides.

Back in 2012, when our current Year 9 students were in Year 5, I was fortunate enough to lead their annual expedition to Cuc Phuong. During this year’s trip to Sa Pa I was able to see and experience how well our students have developed as global citizens over the years.
On Monday, Year 8 went on a trip to Hanoi Geological Museum. It was built in 1914 and has displays showing The Earth and the Solar System and the The Geological Evolution of Vietnam.
In February 2016 Le Tran Thu Thao – a BIS Hanoi Alumni was awarded a full scholarship to Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.
