The number of students studying the International Baccalaureate (IB) has broken a new record at Northbridge International School Cambodia in 2023, and they have once again performed significantly above the global average.
  • Students achieved a 100% pass rate, and average score of 33 (world average 30)
  • Our top student is in the best 1% worldwide, with an almost perfect score of 44/45

 

A total of 50 students at Northbridge studied for IB exams this year. As well as achieving an outstanding 100% pass rate, the students’ average score of 33 was one of the  highest in Northbridge history, exceeding the 2023 global average of 30.

 

All Northbridge graduates will continue with their academic studies at the world’s best universities, with offers this year including King’s College London, Durham  University and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in the United Kingdom.

 

Among these students will be Sereyvattanak H., who achieved an almost perfect score of 44/45, putting him in the top 1% of IB students worldwide. He had this to say:


“To my fellow graduates. Our beautiful time together has concluded, and now a new chapter awaits. We must strive for greatness in all that we do, and we must embrace challenge with eager arms in excitement for the learning opportunities ahead. We must be kind, curious, and inquisitive in taking in all of life: the good with the bad, and everything in between, because that’s what it means to be a lifelong learner.”


In addition to Sereyvattanak, 10% of Northbridge students studying the IB received 40+ points, far above the worldwide average of 30.


Northbridge Head of Secondary Ms Sarah Newton said: “Over the last two years, our students have faced many challenges. Their resilience and strength has been inspiring. These results reflect their determination to succeed in their studies, and their commitment to their futures. They should be very proud of themselves, as all of us at Northbridge are.”


Northbridge Principal Ms Frances Morton added: “We see our success as a school reflected in our students’ potential and their willingness to be their personal best. It’s been a privilege to be a witness to that with our Class of 2023.”


Founded in 1996 on a 20-acre site in the west of the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, Northbridge International School Cambodia is one of the country’s oldest international schools, with a long history of strong IB results and overall academic success.
