STRETCHING BEYOND
An exciting world of adventures, activities, and challenges awaits your child.

READY FOR OUR BEST PERFORMANCES, IN AND BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

At Léman, we encourage every student to reach for their dreams, to showcase their talents, and to try something new. This belief is a strong part our academics: our hard work in the classroom leads to substantial growth, outstanding results, and acceptances into top global universities.

It’s also part of our personal and social habits: through a wide range of experiences beyond the classroom, your child will build their best self, whether that’s participating in competitive or recreational sports, getting involved with charities or school productions, or earning international awards.

ACCELERATING TALENTS. FUELLING PASSIONS.

At LIS Chengdu, we know that the right combination of creativity and challenge helps us get better every day. Our students have many opportunities to go beyond the classroom – whether they want to learn to code, to paint, be a musician, to play for our Red Pandas sports teams, or to simply have fun swimming.

Sports and athletics
Our wide range of sports and physical education programmes are hosted on our impressive athletic facilities – the most expansive in Chengdu and in southwestern China – for both competitive and recreational levels. We’re especially proud to be a comprehensive, aligned school in ACAMIS, as we host many regional competitions.

Sports and athletics
All our students can exercise and compete on our two artificial turf soccer pitches; in our gymnasium; in our heated 25-meter indoor swimming pool; on our tennis courts and outdoor playing courts; in our dance studio; in our fully equipped fitness room; and on our synthetic track. With these world-class facilities, we’re proud to offer many athletic programmes – even golf!

Léman is a full member of both the Association of China and Mongolia Internationals Schools (ACAMIS) – with approximately 75 schools across China, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan – and the Chengdu International Schools Association (CISA), with six schools in and around Chengdu.

We’re the only school in Chengdu to be a comprehensive, aligned school in ACAMIS. We host tournaments with athletes from across the ACAMIS spectrum of schools, and we travel annually to events for soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross country, and swimming. We’re a prominent member in Silver Division ACAMIS with consistently good results in all sports.

English as an Additional Language
We support our students who arrive with little or no English language experience through a combination of in-class and pull-out EAL sessions. Our programme is comprehensive and has been well-established in international schools.

English as an Additional Language

Our highly qualified English as an Additional Language (EAL) Department supports our students of varied abilities in English. In the Primary years, our EAL team works with homeroom teachers to provide differentiated instruction in class as well as direct instruction outside of class for students who need a little extra help. In Years 7 and 8, we have a parallel programme for English language learners in science, humanities, and language arts.

At LIS Chengdu, our approach to language learning is one of additive bilingualism: as students become more proficient in English, we ensure they maintain their skills in their native language. By Secondary School, our students begin the MYP programme, where languages are studied at 'A' and 'B' levels. English 'A' covers English Language and Literature, while English 'B' covers Language Acquisition. English 'B' classes are suitable for those with varying EAL needs.

At Léman, whether it’s taking a leadership role on the Student Council, getting involved with environmentalism and sustainability efforts, or fundraising for charities for people with needs, our students learn ways they can have a positive impact in their community.

Our collaboration with UNICEF especially opens our students’ eyes and encourages them to develop their own ways of helping, both locally and globally.
