    Torun Kirk

    I grew up in Norway and earned my Bachelor Degree in Media and Communication from the University of Oslo. After spending more than 15 years in leading positions in sales, marketing and branding in Copenhagen and Denmark, I moved to New York with my family. I enrolled my then oldest child at Nord Anglia International School, New York, and after years of volunteering and supporting the school as a parent, I recently joined the Nord Anglia Team as Director of Admissions and Marketing. 

    Our three children are all enrolled at Nord Anglia International School, New York, and it’s a joy to see the excitement and enthusiasm they have gained for learning and for the school. It’s intimate size inspires confidence in every child and provides a natural learning environment.

    Christina Procacci

    I completed my studies at Kutztown University in Northern Pennsylvania and grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am an avid football fan – so 2018 has been very good to me! After working as a Program Director for a non-profit program in Philadelphia for several years, I moved to the New York area. Shortly after arriving in New York, I began exploring opportunities to partner with schools, which introduced me to Nord Anglia Education. I quickly began to enjoy my time with Nord Anglia while running a summer camp at the New York location. Last year I joined the NAIS NY team in a position that supports two of my passions – education and operations management. I have the pleasure of working with incredible students, parents and colleagues. I look forward to growing with Nord Anglia International School!

    In the last several years I’ve worked as an accountant in various industries ranging from medical to logistics and now education. As an Accountant, I am tasked with ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the school’s financial system. With this I bring forth my exceptional strength in accounting application and razor sharp focus. Working at Nord Anglia International School NY is an experience like no other. As a child in school or as a young adult in college we are always wondering how what we are learning will be applicable in the real world and we hope for the chance to be a part of greatness. I could not be more proud to be part of a team, more importantly, a community that gives back by investing in our youth.

     

    It is my belief that it takes a village to raise a child. We have a responsibility to ensure the success of our children by giving them the tools they need to thrive and lead for generations to come. This responsibility is not part time, it’s around the clock and commands cooperation and open communication. It is that very principle that makes NAISNY the secret potion for the success of our youth and with this we lead by example. I am committed to our children's success and to the synergistic environment of our school.

    Gemma McIntosh

    I graduated with First Class Honours in Primary Education in 2004 from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. I taught in Scotland for four years before starting my international teaching experience in The British School of Chicago, one of our Nord Anglia sister schools. There, I taught Early Years and had the additional responsibilities of Literacy Co-ordinator and Modern Foreign Languages Co-ordinator. I also spent two years in the Canary Islands teaching in a British International School where I gained invaluable experience teaching children with English as an additional language. I have always loved New York as a city and was delighted to take up post at the school at the beginning of 2014. Since joining the school I have taught in Early Years however, this academic year, I currently teach Year Two with the additional responsibility of being Head of Lower Primary (Key Stage 1).

    I graduated from the University of Derby in 2004 with a Batchelor of Education in Primary teaching and have ten years of successful and dynamic classroom teaching across a range of ages and abilities.  After leaving university, I taught at a lovely school in Watford for nine years where I was able to develop as an educator and build great relationships with the pupils and families attending the school.  As I developed my skills as a teacher I was given more responsibility and was asked to become part of the Senior Leadership Team.  After completing a masters level course to become a maths specialist teacher, and as an outstanding practitioner,  I was asked to work part time as a seconded maths teaching and learning advisor for the Local Education Authority.  My most recent post was in a private school in Buckinghamshire, which was a fantastic experience in an incredible school.

    Sarah Donnelly

    I began my career in 2004 teaching Secondary English within a large 11-18 Comprehensive in Devon. Keen to progress, I changed schools two years later to become Second in Department at Tiverton High School where I remained for four years, eventually as Head of English. During these four years I enjoyed many different roles, including being the Key Stage 4 Co-ordinator for English, mentoring PGCE students and Newly Qualified Teachers, and contributing to some Heinemann-published teaching materials.

    In 2010 I decided I wanted a change of direction in my life and sought an opportunity to teach abroad. I began my role as an English teacher at BISS Pudong in 2010; the following year, I became Head of English again. During my time at BISS, I became very inspired by several books I was reading. It led to a decision to undergo more formal education myself, and I therefore applied for, and have now completed, a Masters in Philosophy and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University (2014-2016). While there, the opportunity to develop NAISNY’s middle school presented itself, and I have been here ever since.

    Throughout my 13 years teaching experience, I have remained a passionate educator who is dedicated to developing best practice when it comes to inspiring young people in their learning journeys. I have particularly enjoyed teaching in international contexts because of the diversity of experience and opportunity it has provided me with. Working with colleagues, students and families from a vast range of backgrounds is a perfect way to cultivate an ethos of global-mindedness, an aspect of education close to my heart. Moreover, all of these experiences have continually reinforced to me the importance of a supportive and caring community, not to mention how rewarding it is to play a role in creating such an environment.
