On Wednesday 22nd November 2017 we have our Visiting Artists from Juilliard travelling from America to come and work with a variety of students.

The trailblazing cello and guitar duo of Dr. Kimberly Patterson and Dr. Patrick Sutton, formed in 2011 as doctoral students at the University of Colorado in Boulder. In addition to being featured artists at the 2016 Guitar Foundation of America Convention, this collaboration has led to recitals, residencies and lectures throughout the United States and abroad.

The Patterson/Sutton Duo are strong believers in the transformative power of educational outreach.

During the day, there will be two separate workshops:

1. Lesson 3:  All string players (violin, viola, cello) are invited to come and participate in a workshop led by the duo. The first half will focus on technique, tone, sound production and ensemble skills.

2. Lesson 4:  All guitar players are invited to come and work with the duo. The structure of this workshop is as above.

During the second half of both workshops, students will be rehearsing the song ‘Romance,’ a very popular song out here in Vietnam! The aim of this rehearsal is to prepare for a big finale performance at the end of the day.

At 2.15pm, there will be a concert performed by Patterson and Sutton, which will finish around 3pm. During the concert, we hope to give the opportunity to those students who participated in the workshops to take to the stage and perform along-side our Visiting Artists; an incredible opportunity! As parents, you are all invited to come and watch this concert; it promises to be a beautiful moment.

We look forward to seeing many of you at 2.15 on Wednesday 22nd November!
