Basketball Club Round Up 2015/16

U14 Boys Basketball

The basketball squad gave us a great opportunity to practice and learn a sport that we love. We personally think that we have developed our skills and have been extremely successful not only individually but also as a squad. We practice every week on a variety of skills and have fun as we do it. We always improve on the matches we play against other schools and do better next time.

We have become stronger as a team and more fluent when playing together.  This year we have learnt perseverance and have used it by getting up when we are down and have continued at our full effort until the end of the match. Overall we think that the basketball squad training is great, and that we are continuing to improve our skills and will continue to do so.

U14 Girls Basketball

BIS HCMC U14 Girls Basketball Become SISAC City Champions!

Junior girls Basketball club has started on a real high, there is a large turnout every week and students are enthusiastic and willing to learn. Practices include ball handling, movement and game play, this has worked well so far as the U14 girls team have just been crowned the SISAC city champions for the season 2015-16.

Senior Girls Basketball Club

U19 senior girls basketball season starts

As the title suggests, we play basketball at the senior girls basketball club. We don’t just faff around slinging the ball back and forth the whole time however, we also practice. A lot. Dribbling, shooting, defending and mostly just improving our teamwork skills.

I personally adore basketball, so naturally I would join the club, but I know for a fact that many other girls enjoy the sense of community within our teams and we always have a blast playing competitive games with one another.

It’s because of this sense of community that I feel between all of us that I am compelled to join this club again next year and I sincerely hope and encourage many of you to join our wonderful team too.

Junior Girls Recreational Basketball Club

In Junior Girls Basketball Club, we have fun playing basketball and learning new skills/techniques we can use in a real match. We usually warm up, learn new skills, practice the new skills and have a match trying to use the skills we learnt. Junior Girls Basketball Club is very enjoyable and very fun because you can have fun playing a match with your friends.

I picked Junior Girls Basketball Club because I like playing basketball and I have played since I was young. I also wanted to get better at basketball by learning skills in a fun way. I would pick this club again because there are many good things about this club and there is literally nothing bad about it

Junior Boys Basketball Recreational Club

So far this term, the Junior Boys Basketball Recreational Club have been working hard on their technique and incorporating the skills developed into game situations. We pick a focus each week to work on and so far passing, defence, close-up shooting, layups and rebounds have been our priorities. The students have shown great application in varying game situations to hone these skills when under pressure. As the term progresses, we will be working on medium-range shooting, defence, dribbling and long-distance shooting. The students have worked hard in every session and showed excellent sportsmanship; they are a pleasure to work with.
