Wednesday morning the An Phu Primary Campus came alive once more as we welcomed our students back to school. Looking smart in their uniforms and new black shoes, with not a hair out of place; all were welcomed warmly by the class teachers on the various playgrounds. There were a few anxious faces, mainly parents but it wasn't long before they were joyfully greeting friends after a long summer apart as their children had done earlier!
We had record numbers of students start this year and it has been lovely to meet them not just on Wednesday but on Tuesday too when most came for ‘New Student Orientation’. It was their opportunity to meet their new teachers and orientate themselves with a tour of the campus.
So far, the children have settled in really well, we are very proud of our new starters and our returning students who have welcomed them and helped them throughout their first days as friends, peers and buddies.
Settling into a new school is never easy, comparisons are made with previous schools and routines and expectations can be different. It takes a while. We would encourage all parents of new students to talk to their own children openly about the transition, listen to them and take seriously any anxieties they may have.
Our doors are always open. Please do get in touch with your child’s class teacher if there is anything you are concerned about. This can be done in person, via the home school communication book or email.
As you do, our teachers want only the very best for all our students and they will go that extra mile to support your child. Mr Simon and I are also always available should you have any questions with regards to school life in general.
We wish you all the very best for our new academic year. A year of partnership between school and home to create the best learning environment for our students.
Ms Dee Grimshaw, Deputy Headteacher
