Mr Simon Higham: Weekly Update 09/12/16

This week, Christmas has officially begun at An Phu Primary Campus, with children from F2 to Year 2 entertaining both parents and children with their Christmas production and sing-a-long concerts.

  • An Phu Primary Weekly Update with Mr Simon Higham, British International School HCMC

This week, Christmas has officially begun at An Phu Primary Campus, with children from F2 to Year 2 entertaining both parents and children with their Christmas production and sing-a-long concerts.

On Wednesday, Milepost 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) children really “reached for the stars” in their impressive production that put everyone in the holiday spirit! Read more about this and see the pictures in this post by Ms Samantha Baker, Milepost 1 EAL teacher.

On Thursday, it was the turn of our F2 children who engaged the audience with a sing-a-long of Christmas songs, and today it was the turn of our F3 children who told the tale of ‘A Christmas Tail’, showing both their confidence and charisma. Look out for more details on these two events using the News and Insights of the school website, early next week.

Today, you will have received your child’s Interim report, that shows both your child’s achievement and effort across all of their subject areas.

Please take time to read this through with your child. Celebrate their efforts and look over the ‘next steps’ to their learning, and also the ‘how you can help’ section. It is important that we continue to work together in partnership in order to ensure the very best education for every child in our care.

Extra-Curricular Clubs – Term 2

The Term 2 Extra-Curricular Club Booklet is now live. Please refer to the extensive selection of the activities that we will have on offer.

You will be able to register your child for a club from Monday 12th December at 5.00pm until Friday 16th December at 12.00pm.

If you have any questions regarding the Extra Curricular Club programme, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Duyen, in the AP1 main office.

Christmas Post Boxes

Our annual festive tradition of the Christmas Post boxes has now begun. All children are invited to make or write their Christmas cards, and post them into our special post boxes for friends and staff at school.  The post boxes are now located outside of the canteen and Ms Dee's office.

This year, our 3S students are taking charge of the post boxes, and with Ms Naomi's help, will be collecting the letters daily and delivering them to each class. Please ensure that the name of the recipient and their class is clearly written on the front of each envelope to ensure a quick delivery.

We look forward to seeing lots of letters being delivered around campus.

FundinoTots

From Friday 10th February 2017 we are starting a new Fundinotot sessions.  This session will run each Friday from 8.00am untill 10.00am in the Early Learning Centre. This session will be open to anyone that currently attends Fundinotots or anyone that has an older sibling at school.  Unlike other Fundinotot sessions, Nannies will be allowed to bring your child to this session. Parents do not need to come.

If you are interested in joining this session, please speak to Ms Hanh in the AP1 office.

Please remember Fundinotots on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday has a no nanny policy. Nannies will only be allowed to attend on Friday.

Enterprise Day – Supporting our Community

In October, with their remarkable entrepreneurial skills, An Phu Primary students managed to raise an incredible 55,371,400VND for the school’s community partners through their Enterprise Day.

Read about how this money will be distributed across our Community partnerships through this post by Ms Clover Sharman, Community Service Projects Manager.

All of the items will be presented to our Community partners in next week’s Friday assembly – the final one of the Term 1.

Binh Tho Shoebox Appeal

Well done to all EYFS parents and children for your thoughtful and generous donations to our Binh Tho Shoebox collection. In total we had 89 presents which included Barbie dolls, stationary sets, cuddly toys, jigsaws, cars, trucks and books to name a few!

Read this post by Ms Louise Swift, F3 teacher & Assistant MPF Leader to find out more about this caring initiative.

Christmas Carol Concert

I would like to invite you all to a ‘Christmas Cracker’ – An Phu Primary’s Christmas Carol Concert.

  • Tuesday 13th December
  • 6.00pm start
  • An Phu Primary small field (enter the campus through Gate A)

Festive foods and refreshments will be served at the end of the concert.

I look forward to seeing you all there and hearing you sing along to our favourite Christmas songs.

Global Campus Creative Writing Competition

Improving both the quality and motivation for writing should always be a focus for all children as they progress through school and beyond. As part of Nord Anglia Education our children have the opportunity to use Global Campus which connects our 43 schools and over 35,000 children.

In this post written by Ms Sarah Curran, Assistant Head Teacher EYFS, read more about the creative 'short writing' competition that all children can take part in.

Please talk to your children and encourage them to take part.

Winter Sports Programmes

BIS HCMC, in association with SSA, FOX and our own BIS HCMC coaches, are proud to offer an action packed Christmas Holiday Camp sports programme being delivered in both weeks of the upcoming holidays.

If you would like your child to be registered for one or more of the clubs, please complete the reply slip attached to the relevant letter(s) previously sent out via email and hand in the correct money to the cashier of their campus as soon as possible.

E-Books at An Phu Primary

Have you talked to your children about our newly purchased EBooks? All Year 3 to Year 6 have received an email to their school Gmail accounts with a worksheet explaining how to access them from home.

Additionally, there are about 20 Fiction books that can be used to encourage reading.

The Destiny Discover App can be downloaded free from the iTunes store and The Google Play store.

If you have any problems accessing them, please speak to Mr Andy Sood-Smith in the library.

Staying Safe and Healthy in School

If, during your visit to school, you have any reason to be concerned about the safety of a young person, please contact the Designated Safeguarding Person (Ms Dee Grimshaw) or the Head teacher (Mr Simon Higham)
