Through the EYFS family mornings, the EYFS children, parents and children have been able to raise a substantial amount of money for ‘Animal Rescue and Care’ (ARC).

EYFS have been working with ‘Animal Rescue and Care’ as their community partner for a number of years. ‘Animal Rescue and Care’ is a charity organisation which rescues cats and dogs in need. They are based in Ho Chi Minh City and they provide medical treatment, vaccination and neutering of cats and dogs before working to rehome them. Crucially, they give love and attention to animals which have been abandoned and abused.

The aim of the partnership is to teach the EYFS children about animal care and how to approach dogs and cats safely. We even have some special animal visitors who come in to meet the children during the project! BIS HCMC have long been supporting this charity and parents and teachers alike have been known to volunteer at the centre by walking some of the dogs who are staying there.

This year’s EYFS family morning happened back in November and you may remember reading Ms Hayley’s blog post about the event. This followed another successful EYFS family morning last academic year. During the mornings, snacks and drinks were sold to fundraise for our community partner, ‘Animal Rescue and Care’. I’m very pleased to announce that over the two EYFS family mornings we raised 11,854,00 VND for ‘Animal Rescue and Care’ which is a fantastic amount of money! The money has been recently donated to ARC and I’m sure it will go far in helping the dogs and cats who are so desperately in need.

Thank you so much to all of the parents and children that were involved in fundraising for ARC. I found the quote below on the ARC website and it made me think about the values that we are trying to instil in the children at BIS. Through our community work, they are becoming active members of our community who believe that they can make a difference.

‘The world is a dangerous place to live. Not because of the people who are evil; but because of the people who don't do anything about it.’ – Albert Einstein.
