Hanako Kawasaki Represents Vietnam at the SEA Games 2017

Year 13 BIS HCMC student Hanako Kawasaki is one of only 7 golfers to represent Vietnam at this year’s South East Asian Games in Malaysia.

Following her incredible achievement in the Vietnam Junior Open in 2017 where she claimed 1st place and defending champion in the National Women’s Golf Tournament, Year 13 student Hanako Kawasaki has been appointed as a key member of the Vietnam National Golf Team for the South East Asian Games 2017.

The 2017 South East Asian Games (SEA Games) is a multi-sport event for South East Asian countries designed to promote co-operation, understanding and relations amongst the countries in the region. Golf is one of 38 sports to be featured at the Games where Hanako is one of only 7 young golfers representing Vietnam in the competition.

Head of the golf section in the National Sports Administration, Nguyen Quoc Hung commented on Hanako’s participation at the SEA Games; “Hanako is one of Vietnam’s best women golfers now. At the event in Malaysia, Hanako and My are expected to bring home medals for the women’s team.”

Although this is Hanako’s first time participating at the SEA Games she is certainly no stranger to these types of competitions. After defeating her opponents in the 2017 Vietnam Junior Open in Ho Tram, she continued to prove herself as one of the best amateur golfers in the country. Following her win, she was named in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) where she is currently only one of two female Vietnamese golfers listed.

Hanako, from all of us here at BIS HCMC, we wish you the best of luck at the 2017 SEA Games!
