Message from the Principal

Though the weather is wet, the children haven’t let it dampen their enthusiasm this week.  I continue to be impressed with the learning going on in classrooms.  Our class teachers, as well as our music, PE and Chinese language specialists, have continued to provide high quality learning experiences, and to prepare the children for next year.
We have one week of school left in this academic year.  We are making progress with the relevant authorities in terms of obtaining the necessary paperwork for our teachers to return when the border situation is resolved, although two of our new teachers for next year have arrived in the city already - keep an eye out for their introductions.
Following on from my message last week, I would like to ask that you contact our admissions team at school to guarantee your child’s place for August.  We have a whole range of exciting developments to look forward to, all with what is best for each child at the heart of each decision.  We have discussed our intent for curriculum enhancement to ensure that our international education offers the very highest standards of challenge, of progression and of enjoyment.  We will share detailed information nearer the start of the school year about what exactly to expect in the core subjects of English and Maths in Primary, in Phonic teaching in Early Years, and how our MYP programme has become more rigorous.  Our IB Diploma remains strong, and I will take this opportunity to again say how proud we are of this year’s graduates and their incredible average of 35 points - compared to the global average of 29.9.
We remain committed as well to responding to your feedback with the introduction of a new online platform to replace Seesaw.  We are planning improvements to our library and developing our IT teaching facilities, in line with the findings of the latest Parent Satisfaction Survey results.  All in all, there is a lot going on, and even though school will stop for the students, my colleagues and I will continue to work throughout the summer.

Finally, based on the local government's requirements, families are advised to travel to the low risk areas inside China if you have to do so. Take necessary precautions and wear masks at crowded places. If you have travelled to any medium or high risk areas, please return to Chengdu 14 days before school starts and register with your local community and inform the admissions office by and make sure you follow government policies and
Enjoy your weekend!
