  • 15 years of experience in education

During my 15 years of experience in education settings I have worked with a wide age range of children from Early Years through to Secondary in a variety of roles.

Whilst studying for my diploma in education at college; I became fascinated in the various ways in which children learn. This led me to begin to work in a pre-school setting where my passion flourished. I began to understand that play is vital to children’s development and thoroughly enjoyed providing learning experiences through exploratory play. Later on in my career, I was privileged to gain a position at a well-known independent school in my hometown, where I was trained in Forest school and specialised outdoor learning. Being able to make connections to outdoor learning and the learning experiences in the Early Years led me to develop an understanding of different pedagogies; this then led me to commence a degree; specialising in Early Years education.

In my penultimate year at University, I decided to take on the challenge of becoming a nursery manager of three nurseries who were rated as requires improvement, according to the Ofsted regulations in the United Kingdom. During my time as the manager, I was able to implement a new way of educating children in the Early Years and led a large team in becoming outstanding practitioners. This was then recognised by Ofsted, when all three nurseries were rated as outstanding during the inspections, and I was personally recognised by Ofsted as an outstanding manager.

After I finished my degree, I began to recognise the importance of a stimulating and nurturing environment with exploratory play at the very core of children’s learning, in order to thrive and develop. During my 15 years of experience in education settings I have worked with a wide age range of children from Early Years through to Secondary in a variety of roles.

This pedagogy led me to lead a nurture provision in a school, specialising in supporting children with special educational needs and attachment disorders.

At the moment, I am currently studying for a Masters degree in Psychology which focuses on Mental Health and Wellbeing and confident that I will be able to incorporate this into my Early Years Teaching.

When I am not working or studying for my Masters degree; I love to go on long walks, reading and pursuing my hobby as an amateur photographer.
