This term, Year 6 children participated in the Juilliard Film Music Competition 2024 for their end of year composition project. Children were given the choice of two animated short movies and over the course of 5 weeks learned composition techniques used by modern film music composers in their curriculum music lesson. News arrived this week that Juilliard chose their work to be ‘realised’ into a real film score for the animated movie ‘Caminandes’.
Juilliard School of Music New York announced the following winners;
BIS Boston Year 2 Bears (Caminandes)
BS Warsaw Year 6 Poplar (Spring)
BIS Budapest Year 5 Cobalt (Caminandes)
The Village School Grade 5 Band (Spring)
BS Guangzhou Year 6 (Caminandes)
The work will be premiered at a ‘watch party’ in May.
Great work work year 6! Your music will now be immortalised in film! Date to be confirmed.
The British School of Guangzhou hosted the final of the BSG Young Musician Award which took place in the BSG Theatre from 19.00 – 20.30 on the 23rd of November.
The Primary Music Showcase took place on Wednesday, November 15th and was a huge success!
