Our EYFS curriculum
At the British Vietnamese International School Hanoi, our 2 to 5-year-old students follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
A predominately play-based education, our British-style Early Years programme nurtures our youngest learners’ creativity and curiosity, as well as providing firm academic foundations.
In our dedicated early years environment, our specialist teachers will guide your child through the seven key EYFS learning goals:
The three prime areas:
1. Communication and language: which our students develop in both English and Vietnamese.
2. Personal, social, and emotional development: our children work with others, share, collaborate, and become increasingly emotionally intelligent.
3. Physical development: our students take part in regular physical exercise, developing their balance, coordination, and fine and gross motor skills.
The four core areas:

A unique bilingual programme
Our youngest students work towards their EYFS curriculum milestones in both English and Vietnamese. They do this through our innovative phonics programme, which uses a single approach to develop vital communication and comprehension skills, including reading. By the time they move into Primary, our talented young learners are able to seamlessly switch between both languages.
Our personalised approach
Personalised learning is at the heart of a BVIS education. We adapt how and what we teach to each child’s needs and preferences, and focus on their individual strengths and areas for growth. Every day, our teachers carefully plan engaging and inspiring learning experiences that enable every student to develop personally, academically, socially, and emotionally.
Building a strong relationship with our parents
You’ll play an integral role in your child’s learning. We understand that you are your child’s first educator, and we really value the relationships we build with our families.
You’ll be invited to regular parent meetings celebrating your child’s progress and achievements. We’ll also produce an individual learning portfolio and send you weekly updates.
