Weekly Highlights 03/05/2024 - Weekly Highlights 03 05 2024

Mr. Simon Higham, Principal

Dear Parents

Welcome to the first Weekly Highlights of Term 3.

We trust that you all had a great Term 2 break and that you and your families are well and raring to go for Term 3.

Weekly Highlights 03/05/2024 - Weekly Highlights 03 05 2024

Again, I would like to extend a specific welcome to all our new families who began their BVIS journey with us on Thursday this week. We are extremely pleased and privileged to have the opportunity to guide your child(ren) in their educational journeys with us. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us should you have any questions – we’re here to support you in any way we can. Details on who to contact can always be found at the end of each week’s Highlights.

As with every term at BVIS, all students have successfully begun their work to further develop and consolidate their learning and gain access to a breadth of opportunities to ensure that everyone achieves more than they could possibly imagine – this is the BVIS way!

Term 3 is particularly challenging for all our external examination students across Years 11, 12 and 13 as they will be sitting their iGCSE, AS and A2 exams. I want to personally wish them all the very best in both their final preparations and during their individual examination schedule. Through hard work, great teaching and a positive learning environment both at school and at home, I know that everyone will do well – all the very best and good luck!

Each Friday, I would encourage every parent to put aside at least 10 minutes to read through the Weekly Highlights that are sent to your email Inbox at the end of each week. The Highlights give you as parents, a wider insight into the ongoing successes across EYFS, Primary and Secondary phases of the school, together with providing useful reminders of important future events.

If you prefer to access the Highlights via our school website, all editions can be found in the ‘News’ section on the Homepage.

In the highly competitive admissions season this year, Phuong Nghi (Nancy), a Year 13 student who has been at BVIS since 2011, has continuously received good news of admission from top universities in the United States, especially from her dream school - University of Pennsylvania. As one of the 8 Ivy League schools, UPENN is also ranked as the 6th best university in the United States according to the 2024 university rankings by US News.

In this post, read more about Nancy’s incredible university offers worth up to 13.5 billion VND.

The Outstanding Strengths of the A-Level and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)

Weekly Highlights 03/05/2024 - Weekly Highlights 03 05 2024

Often, I have parents asking the question ‘What are A levels and how do they compare to IBDP?’.

Read more in this post that helps you to understand how both A-Level and IBDP programmes are top choices for families interested in international education and studying at global universities.

Hot weather

Due to the extremely hot weather that we are currently experiencing across the city, please ensure that your child(ren) have their water bottle and a school hat at all times.

This weekend, please take time to talk with your son/daughter about the importance of seeking shade and staying properly hydrated during the hottest times of the day. Given the extremely hot weather, we will continue to reinforce these messages across the school and have modified our outdoor PE activities to incorporate more rest/water breaks.
