This week, Secondary School students were practising how to manage challenging situations and conflicts effectively in this Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) workshop.

DCIS school counsellor Alison Ford and educational psychologist Vivienne Scott led a workshop on how to be assertive and students enjoyed opportunities to role-play assertive, rather than passive or aggressive, responses in different social scenarios. They practiced using 'I' messages to express their opinions in a calm and confident manner while still being respectful. We have encouraged students to practice these statements in school and at home.
