YEAR 3 DISCOVERY DAYS

On Wednesday Year 3 had a fabulous Discovery Day as they traveled to Jelka and took to Pramen Maleho Dunaja, rafting downstream to the 109 year old water mill.

Rafters had to show determination and perseverance as they paddled for over an hour to reach their destination.  It may have been tiring work but it was so much fun, and it was a wonderful opportunity to see all the children working together.  We certainly saw the benefit of working as a team as we progressed down the river and overtook the other rafts!!!
Our non rafters also had lots of fun on their discovering nature walk with Mrs Keys, where they looked at the flora and fauna through the forest and next to the river.
After a delicious lunch, there was time to explore the old water mill, seeing the wheel turn and learn about the flour making process.  We also took part in a game in which we learnt about the main ports along the river and about import and export, and had to be careful of the pirates who wanted to steal our cargo!
It was an excellent day, and wonderful to see the children come together as a year group, securing friendships and making new ones.  Thank you to Project Outdoor Slovakia for making it a very enjoyable and successful trip!
