Mrs Sarah Wild Weekly Update 4th September

We have only been back for 10 days and it is wonderful to see how quickly the students have settled down and in particular the new students.

  • Secondary update 20150904
  • Independence Day Assembly Secondary

There is a real sense of purpose and deep learning in the school. Because we want to get to know all our students as quickly as possible, on Thursday Years 8 and 9 students completed online ability tests. Years 7, 10 and 11 will do theirs next week. This enables us to find out the strengths of each individual and gives us an indication of the areas of learning that students may find more challenging. We use this information to get to know our new students in particular and make sure that they can achieve their full potential. Lessons are planned to reflect the findings from the tests.

Although ECAs do not start until the 21st of September, we are pleased in the meantime to be able to offer some sports after school. If your child is usually on the bus, but wants to stay, you need to sign a new form that has been generated this year. It is important that the school knows before lunchtime, if your child will not be on the bus that day.

It was a great pleasure to finish our week with Mr Long Nguyen’s Assembly about the 70th anniversary of national independence. In his assembly, he spoke about the life of Vietnamese people under the domination of French and Japanese and the struggle to liberate Vietnam from Japan. This was a good occasion for students and our teachers to understand more about Vietnamese History and to remember the heroes who sacrificed themselves for their country. In addition, students were asked to reflect about their own responsibility to give Vietnam a bright future.
