We hosted our first sensory club for children in our local community and prospective parents, looking to join our Léman family.

This week, we hosted our first sensory club for children in our local community and prospective parents, looking to join our Léman family. With Chinese New Year celebrations well under way, Mrs. Devitt and Mrs. Connor organised a range of exciting sensory activities with a Chinese New Year theme for all (including the parents), to enjoy.

Sensory play is vital for children in their Early Years (particularly babies), as it encourages discovery and independent thinking, as well as inspiring imagination and creativity, all whilst boosting brain development.

We certainly saw many of those areas of development being enhanced during our first sensory club, as children who joined in, learnt new words when playing with the instruments and waving the sensory ribbons, made new friends as we sat around the Chinese New Year sensory tray. Pouring rice into various pots to share with family and friends and developed our fine and gross motor skills when we used the chopsticks to create patterns and make shapes in the 'gloop'.

Our ethos regarding Early Years education, is to ensure that we develop the whole child and ensure that we are offering a range of activities that enable children to develop in all areas. Sensory play, has a very important role in our learning here at Léman and ensures that children are ready to embrace the positive challenges they will face, as they go through school.

For those that joined us this week, we would like to thank you for your time and hope you and your child enjoyed the experience. It was so lovely to see the children (and parents) engaging in all of the activities, laughing and learning in the process.

In the next few weeks, we will host our second Panda Cub Sensory club and hoping that those that joined us today, will return for some more fun and hopefully bring some new friends along with them.
