Year 10 and 11 students taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award completed their practice journey at the weekend. The students successfully trekked 12 km across desert in over 35 degree heat to make their way to camp. They carried everything they needed with them in order to prepare and cook meals for dinner using the camping stoves.

On the second day they woke up at 6am, some at 4am, made breakfast, packed up their campsite and completed another 12km to reach the coach at 3pm.

The students were clearly surprised at how difficult it was but also enjoyed the experience and look forward to learning from their practice to complete the qualifying journey on the 21st and 22nd November.
