I have a love for learning and believe that it is something that never really ends. I studied a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Fine Art with a Photography and Printmaking concentration, extending this with two additional modules titled 'The History of Art' and 'Curatorial Practices' in order to develop a contextual understanding of Art and Design. During this time, I explored a breadth of creative disciplines including 3D, printmaking, graphic design, photography, painting and drawing. Upon completion of my degree, I gained experience working in the world of design before embarking on a PGCE specialising in teaching Visual Art in the Post Compulsory Education and Training sector.
I have worked with children as young as twelve, up to college level students preparing to enter competitive art universities, and entry-level students with the same goal in mind. Most recently, I worked in Kuala Lumpur at an international school where I taught the IB MYP and DP Visual Art programmes alongside my role as Campus Leader for Visual Art in the upper school.
I support student centred practical inquiry and believe that the Arts can be taught through the lens of any subject and use this as a means of integrating various fields of knowledge. I have recently submitted my Masters dissertation, which focussed on the topic of inter-disciplinary teaching and learning, fortifying my belief in the benefits of real-world learning experiences inside the classroom.
I am an enthusiastic and passionate teacher who enjoys being a part of the individual’s learning journey. I am enjoying working at BIS Abu Dhabi and experiencing the collaborative culture that it represents.
I enjoy various social activities, visiting art galleries and music. I am fascinated by the diversity of culture and the experiences to be gained from travelling the world. I have had the privilege to have visited many countries in Asia and now plan to explore Europe and the Middle East.
