Applications are open! Three programs on offer for Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard
Applications are open! Three programs on offer for Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard We are delighted to announce that applications are open for Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard, which has expanded into three bespoke, immersive performing arts programs taking place in Geneva, Shanghai and Florida.

This summer we are able to give more students a once-in-a-lifetime summer experience. Building on the strengths of the Summer Performing Arts programme in Geneva, we are excited to expand the programme, adding two unique courses focused on voice and strings taught by Juilliard artist faculty. The purpose is to provide programmes that focus on a single performing arts subject, says Seth Baer, The Juilliard School’s director for Summer Performing Arts.

“We are immensely proud of how our program in Geneva has grown in stature and reputation in the past two summers. This year, we have chosen to expand our offerings to include discipline-specific programmes in Voice and Strings. Our hope with these programmes is to offer more targeted kinds of experiences to students in search of just that – intensive experiences that focuses deeply into one of the performing arts.”

The decision to expand summer performing arts also reflect the high standards and goals Nord Anglia Education has for its students.

“As Director of Curriculum for Nord Anglia, I am delighted to see the growth of our unique summer arts programmes with Juilliard this year. Our philosophy is to be ambitious, and extend and enhance the learning for all the students we come in to contact with. The expansion of this highly successful programme to two new countries shows that we are dedicated to that vision for as many students as possible,” said Mark Orrow-Whiting.

The Flagship programme continues to be held at the prestigious Collège du Léman in Geneva, and builds on the successful 2016 and 2017 programmes. Students aged 10-18 are exposed to various music, dance and drama courses that cater to the cross-section of experience levels in the group.

Students are able to choose between one of two tracks, Discovery or Young Artist. The Discovery track allows students to explore their varied interests by selecting a major and minor focus from the performing arts, while the Young Artist course encourages students to select a focus and delve deeeply into it. The courses are truly transformative, and inspire students to explore and develop their creativity, talents, and skills.

The Voice programme, hosted at Windermere Preparatory School, Florida, enables students to engage deeply in the performing arts. It is an intensive course designed for talented high school singers aged 14-18 who want to take their study to the next level.

This programme is also split into two tracks of study. Students can select either the Complete Singer-Actor track, where they discover the core values of singing and acting to be applied in a variety of genres, or the College/Conservatory Prep Intensive, a course for students who want to pursue classical singing and wish to audition for top tier vocal arts programmes.

The Strings programme at the Nord Anglia Chinese International School in Shanghai is an intensive programme for talented string players aged 12-18 looking to take their musical aptitude up a notch. Studying closely with artist faculty from Juilliard, students are challenged to learn and improve technical skills and their understanding of music as a solo performer and within an ensemble.

This course includes multiple private one-on-one sessions with Juilliard artist faculty, and there will be daily string orchestra rehearsals and chamber music coaching. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in seminars and workshops on music theory and composition, improvisation and more.
