Madinat Khalifa Primary Headlines | Week of 26 February 2017

Dear Parents,

On Tuesday I had the great pleasure of watching our Year 1 and 2 Sports Day, and what a great event it was! In their House teams, all students fully participated in a wide range of traditional and more unique activities.  They faced these challenges with enthusiasm and perseverance and even more impressive, was the way in which they supported each other throughout.

A huge thank you to our PE team, Primary Teachers and Learning Assistants that helped support the students and events. An even bigger thank you to our superb student helpers: Meera Alkamali, Gino Poggi, Shri Choksi, Olivier Westerhoven, Ruby Suter, Kirsten Vermaak, Wella Tizon, Nina Lancut and Isabella Cordeiro who took charge of each event by explaining the rules to the students (and teachers) and by offering encouragement to all students who participated.

Another great example of student leadership is our Global Campus Council, who have been leading our efforts in the UNICEF Global Goals challenge. These students have been focussing on Goal 2 ‘No Hunger’, which has led them to partnering with a local organisation, the Eid Charity. The students have launched the hugely successful food drive (donations are still being accepted) and delivered some of these donations to the Eid Charity this week. Whilst there, the students were given a tour of the facilities and found out more about the many projects the Eid Charity support across Qatar.

Finally, we have an exciting week ahead with the Spring Fete and Book Week.

The Spring Fete will take place on Saturday, 4 March between 10:00am and 1:00pm. There will be a wide variety of activities and stalls for you and your children to visit, not to mention our very exciting door prizes. We have some great prizes on offer and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I win the Al Sadd soccer shirt signed by Xavi!

Our book week runs from Sunday to Thursday, please see the attached poster for details. There are a number of opportunities for you to come into school and help us promote and celebrate reading.

Have a great weekend.
