I have been a teacher for 15 years. After graduating from university, where I studied German language and literature and English language and literature, along with all the courses needed for a teacher (psychology, pedagogy, methodology), I started working as a secondary school teacher, preparing students for their final examinations both in English and German. After 2 years I left my home country, but I went on teaching English in the Czech Republic. I have been teaching English there for 12 years, all age categories from kindergarten up to the final examinations, as well as adults.

Originally from Scotland, I graduated from Moray House Institute of Education, University of Edinburgh in 1999 and moved to England where I taught for 2 years. In 2001, I got the travel bug and wanted to live in a warmer climate and was lucky enough to get a job teaching PE at Wingate School in Tenerife, Canary Islands. I had 5 amazing years over there but then wanted to try somewhere new. I had friends who had moved to Qatar and were raving about it and in 2006 I made the move to the Middle East. I had 10 amazing years in Dukhan but felt it was time to move on but I was still very keen to stay in Qatar.
I originally started my work in education in 2011 when I came to Qatar from Australia with my husband providing learning support assistant (LSA) to teachers within CISD. After spending 2 years within the CISD educational environment and helping children to achieve their full potential, I enrolled and completed my EAL which is particularly relevant in the context today. I enjoyed working within the educational environment and the LSA work provided the catalyst for me to try something new.
I completed a course of Arabic Language and graduated from Qatar University. I taught at a primary school for 6 years, I was then nominated to be the head of the school, this is my experience of Arabic schools in Qatar.
