parent essentials

When you join our thriving international school, you'll become part of a supportive community of students, parents, and teachers from more than 80 countries. At Compass, your child will get the care, attention, and inspiration they need to thrive. Your whole family will get a warm welcome, too!

Your child will enjoy incredible opportunities to learn with friends through our global collaborations, clubs, and life-changing trips.
Performing arts
Every student is encouraged to be creative. Through our exclusive collaboration with The Juilliard School, your child will express themselves on the stage and in our dance studio. They can also learn an instrument, star in the school orchestra, or sing in our choir.
Your child can do what they love – or try something new – at our sports clubs. Activities change each term, ranging from basketball and tennis to Zumba and sailing. National and international competitions give our students the chance to shine and put their skills to the test.
Our science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) programme gets young minds ticking through creative challenges. Your child can join our award-winning Young Innovators Club and solve some of the world’s most perplexing puzzles in our STEAM learning lab.
We’re proud to be the only school in Qatar accredited to teach Dutch, including after-school lessons. Your child can also follow an advanced French programme, as well as native and non-native Arabic. This gives them a real understanding of and appreciation for our community.

Trips and expeditions
Our trips and global expeditions change lives. In Tanzania, our students make a genuine difference in local communities. Our collaboration with UNICEF takes our students to UN headquarters in New York. And through our partnership with the Ministry of Education, your child will get a genuine appreciation for local history and culture.

  • What are the differences between your three campuses?

Although we’re one school community, each of our campuses offers students something slightly different.

Our Gharaffa campus teaches early years and primary education. This complements our primary and secondary provision on our Madinat Khalifa campus, which is also home to our IBDP students. On our Themaid campus, we teach early years right through to A-levels.

All three campuses have outstanding facilities that deliver a first-class learning experience.

  • What nationalities are represented at your school?
Our school community is home to children and families from more than 80 countries around the world.
  • Where can I find term and other important dates?
You’ll find all our key dates on the school calendar.
  • Are you a boarding school?
No, we don’t provide student accommodation.
  • What curricula will my child follow?
At Compass, we teach a combination of the best in British and international curricula. Our youngest learners (ages 3-5) follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). In our primary classes (ages 5-11), students learn through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Lower secondary students (ages 11-14) follow the English National Curriculum. Our Key Stage 4 learners (ages 14-16) study for their International GCSEs. And at 16-19, our students have the unique opportunity to choose between A-levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
  • How do A-levels and the IBDP differ?

Our 16 to 19-year-old students are in the unique position of being able to choose between A-levels or the IBDP. Both academic pathways are highly regarded across the world and recognised by the best universities.

Our A-level students typically specialise in four subjects, alongside extra-curricular activities and projects.

Our IBDP students study subjects in six thematic groups, as well as being assessed in core competencies, abilities, and values.
