As the end of the Summer Term draws to a close, we are looking forward to the opening of our school next term. In advance of the holidays, we would like to draw your attention to some important details.
These will take place on Thursday 28 August and Friday 29 August. Each year group will be invited to tour the school and meet their child’s new teacher as below:

All parents will receive a “Settling-In Report” from their child’s teacher during the week commencing 6 October 2014. The full reporting schedule and Parents’ Evening dates will be available next term.
The school day will start at 8am for all year groups. Pupils will have breaks at different times during the day, but will overlap so that siblings and friends in different years still mix.

The school day will finish at 2:45pm for Primary pupils and 3:30pm for Secondary pupils. Extra- curricular activities will take place from 3pm - 4pm (for Primary) and 3:45pm - 5pm (for Secondary). There will be no additional charge for activities run by Nord Anglia International School staff.
All pupils will receive specialist teaching in the following subjects: Art, Drama, Music, Mandarin, PE
and Spanish (Year 5 up). Year 7 will be taught by Specialist teachers in each subject.

HOUSE SYSTEMAll pupils at Nord Anglia International School, Hong Kong are members of a House which runs vertically throughout the Primary and Secondary years. Our aim is to make each House a focal point for competitions, cross-peer group support and to build an ethos that allows pupils to contribute to the success of the community and develop leadership skills.
All pupils will attend House assemblies and take part in House competitions. Our aim is to create a community that will span all year groups at the school and indeed, help with the transition from Year 6 to 7.
Our Houses are named after historic castles in the UK:

We will inform all parents and pupils of their House at the start of term.
Thank you to all of those who have already sent in photos for the Octopus cards. As the MTR has quite strict requirements in terms of the size and resolution of the photos it will accept for the cards, we have decided it will be more efficient (and easier for our parents) for a professional
photographer to take photos of all the children during their orientation sessions in August. This will facilitate the process by ensuring that we meet the MTR specifications. We will have alternative pupil registration procedures in place pending receipt of the Octopus cards from MTR.
All of the classrooms and teaching facilities are looking good and will be ready for use. Each classroom has an Interactive Whiteboard, projector and age-specific resources. As you know, each class will have a maximum of 22 pupils, with a Class Teacher, Teaching and Learning Assistant and support from the Additional Support Needs Department, where appropriate.
As a result of permissions and licensing, the swimming pool will not be available for use for the first year. We are adding other facilities and resources and I will keep you informed about these developments.
