Year 6 Pupils from Regents head on a residential trip to Kanchanaburi

Our school trip to Kanchanaburi began perfectly: we left on time; no travel sickness; no one (too!) late; no road works or delays; no problems. Everyone happy and smiley. We arrived in Kanchanaburi after a smooth journey, met our wonderful tour guides from the Barge Programme, and went straight to a lovely lunch on a riverboat overlooking the famous bridge.
  • Students from Pattaya study history at Kanchanaburi

From then on in it was learning experience after learning experience. The students researched, investigated, reflected and experienced so many different aspects of how World War II impacted on the lives of people in Thailand and South East Asia. We learnt about the heart-rending lives prisoners of war had to endure, seeing first-hand the efforts of their labour whilst working on the Thai Burma railway, whilst reflecting on their sacrifice and loss. We gained a wider perspective of the horrors of war, empathising and becoming more aware of the history that surrounds us. We also had fun, lots of fun – acting, singing, swimming, completing challenges and exploring. We came back to Pattaya without a hitch. It began perfectly and it ended perfectly. Well done Year 6, you conducted yourself in a most excellent manner and were a credit to the school.
