Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

As you will be aware, Nord Anglia Education schools have a unique partnership with The Juilliard School in New York. Nord Anglia schools offer a special curriculum in the Performing Arts that allows our students the opportunities to participate in dance, drama and music lessons within the school day. There is a particular focus on using ‘the creative classroom’, meaning we are teaching methods, tools and processes rather than training students to become performers. Here at NAISAK, we have been focusing on embedding the drama curriculum this year. Last week we had a visitor all the way from the USA – Mr Raphael Peacock. Raphael is an actor himself, specializing in theatre and has many years of experience working with students right across the globe. His visit to Al Khor was his very first trip to the Middle East, so we were proud to act as ambassadors for the region. Raphael was impressed by our students’ energy, enthusiasm and willingness to go outside of their ‘comfort zones’ to try out his suggested activities. Even as adults, we all need to get outside of our comfort zones from time to time – it is where the learning happens! Raphael was a great role model for our students, who enjoyed his fearless approach to communicating through speech, language and gesture. We will welcome Raphael back to NAISAK in March and I know he will be excited to see all the progress that students, staff and the wider school community are making on our Performing Arts journey together.
