It is a huge privilege and honour to be Head of Primary at NAISAK, a wonderful school that places the children at the very heart of each and every aspect of school life.
Fundamentally, I believe that education is about enabling children to achieve their full potential so that they can lead happy, self-assured and meaningful lives. The current generation of young people in schools today will be the problem solvers of the future and equipping them with the means to not only deal with problems but to create a better world is central to my purpose as an educator. To achieve this, we need to provide opportunities for our students to be thinkers, creators, inquirers and risk-takers. Engendering a lifelong love of learning is the very essence of what has always motivated me.
I am very proud to call Qatar my home, having lived here now for many years. NAISAK will be my third school in Qatar, having previously worked at Doha English Speaking School and more recently King’s College Doha. Before that I worked at The British School of Beijing, one of Nord Anglia Education’s premium Asian international schools.
Before making the decision to teach and work overseas, I worked in a variety of different of schools in the South East of England. Although I have spent the majority of my career as a Primary Educator and Leader, I have been fortunate to be in the unique position whereby I have taught in both Primary and Secondary schools.
I studied at the University of Leicester for 5 years and gained a BA in History and Archaeology, an MSc in Finance and a PGCE in Secondary History.
Outside of school I have many interests, however sport has always played a huge part in my life. I enjoy keeping fit and running. I’ve completed 4 marathons, two of which were on The Great Wall of China. Football has always kept me fit over the years and I have been lucky to have enjoyed a semi-professional football career in each country I have worked and lived in.
I live in Qatar with my wife and our three young children. As a family we love spending time out in the open air, going on adventures and discovering new and exciting places.
