Sarfraz Akram

Deputy Head of Secondary

I am proud to join NAISAK as Deputy Head of Secondary. It’s both a privilege and pleasure to be part of the NAISAK community where I can support students and families in an inclusive environment. I am sustained by hope and a consistent moral purpose to provide pupils and staff with the best opportunities for successful learning and high achievement. It is through these transformational processes that we can ensure students can thrive to become responsible global citizens.

During my career, I have held several roles in the Southeast of England. I began my teaching career as a teacher of Business and Economics. Since then I have held the roles of Head of Sixth form, Director of Behaviour, Ethos & Culture and Assistant Principal. I am passionate about educational research and how we can use the very best evidence to inform practice in the classroom. I have also held the post of Associate Lecturer, delivering lectures supporting the training of new teachers in Buckinghamshire as part of a school-centred initial teacher training programme through the University of Leicestershire.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Retailing, a PGCE and a Masters degree in Education. I have always believed in being a lifelong learner and self-improvement has always motivated me in my career. I completed my NPQSL in 2017 and recently completed my National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) with the Ambition Institute in the UK.

My commitment and achievements as a teacher and school leader were recognised in 2020, as I was awarded a Fellowship (FCCT) from the Chartered College of Teaching. I am passionate about innovation, EdTech, and how we can support staff and students by using a blended learning approach. In 2019 I became a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert.

I will be joined in Qatar by my wife and three children. I enjoy keeping fit, cycling, and taking part in most sports. I am excited to start the next step of my career at NAISAK where I can expand my influence and make a wider, positive contribution to children, families, and staff.
