    Year 1 Teacher

    Ashleigh Roberts

I studied for my degree in English Literature with Electronic Creative Technology in the city of Liverpool. I graduated with a 2:1 and decided to pursue my career as a Primary School Teacher. In 2012, I graduated Liverpool Hope University with QTS in Primary School Teaching. After my degree, I took a career break and worked in a bank. Working for the bank did not provide me with a challenging work environment and so I went to work for Liverpool City Council as a Supply Teacher. This gave me the opportunity to visit many different classrooms and teach a variety of different children. During my supply work, I discovered that teaching is truly the career for me as I enjoy helping children learn.

    Ben Spencer

Having graduated from The University of Aberdeen with a MA (hons) in Primary Education in 2015, I worked in Elgin, Scotland, for a year working with a composite Year 2/3 class. During my time at University, I undertook a series of placements gaining valuable teaching experience with children from Year 2 to year 6. Having gained my initial qualification in June of 2015, I embarked on completeing my Masters Degree and am currently researching the benefits and features of a reflective practitioner which will develop the skills I can bring to the classroom. The experiences I have had in Scotland have been fantastic and the next step for me was to experience a new curriculum and learn from other practioners from around the world.

    Matthew Scragg

    Year 2 Teacher

    Matthew Scragg

I am from Sheffield in England and am currently a Year 1 Teacher and English Coordinator for an International School in The Netherlands. I trained in England, am in my ninth year of teaching and my specialisms are English and Music. Before teaching in Holland, I was a teacher at the British School of Bucharest in Romania and prior to this at several public and private schools in England. I have experienced teaching in all year groups from 1 to 6. I have worked outside of education, followed my dream to ‘make it’ as a musician and worked as a Paralegal in one of the UK’s finest Human Rights legal departments.

I decided to teach at NAISAK because I was happy to discover a well-established school which supports the values I hold dear. I enjoy teaching in schools that have a strong ethos and sense of common purpose. I am very proud to be a member of this particular team and certain that we can make valuable contributions to the school community whilst benefitting from working alongside committed colleagues with different experiences to our own.

I am from Durban, a coastal city in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. I completed my schooling in Durban and then moved to Johannesburg to do my teacher’s training at Johannesburg College of Education. I qualified in 1993 and started my journey as an educator immediately after that. I have taught all year groups throughout the primary years and find it very difficult to pick a favourite year group.

I have lived in England all my life and so am excited to start my new adventure; living and working in Qatar. I look forward to meeting you all when lessons start in September!

    Nigel Lane

    Year 3 Teacher

    Nigel Lane

I graduated with a Bachelor of Education from St. Patrick’s College of Education in Dublin, Ireland in 2007. I then took up a position as a teacher near my hometown of Newbridge. Throughout my nine years there I gained experience of multiple grade levels and special education. I also worked as the whole-school ICT Co-ordinator for a number of years. From 2013-2015 I studied part time in order to gain a MSc. in Education and Training Management. It was difficult at times to work full time and keep up with my studies, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it made me a more thoughtful and reflective educator.

With nine years of teaching experience under my belt, I made the decision to move abroad to further my development as an educator. In August 2016 I moved to Qatar to take up a teaching position at a large international school in Doha. During my two years there I taught Year 2 and Year 3. Living and working in Qatar has been an incredible experience. I am delighted to be able to further that experience at NAISAK and I am proud to become a member of such a wonderful, progressive school.
