    Joy Marie Bromfield

    Head of Year 1

    Joy Marie Bromfield

I have spent almost 10 years as a primary school teacher and during this time have held several positions of increasing responsibility; Nursery Room Leader, Crèche Supervisor, Subject Coordinator, and NQT Mentor, culminating in my current position of Year Leader of a twelve-form entry school.

I have decided to return to the classroom to ensure that I remain up to date with current teaching practices and initiatives. I have also missed having the opportunity to work closely with and have a direct impact upon the holistic development of the children in my care.

I am delighted to be given the opportunity to do so at NAISAK and to become a part of the world-renowned Nord Anglia family.

    Laura Battson

Year 1 Teacher, Head of Primary Maths

    Laura Battson

My name is Laura Battson and I am looking forward to joining the Year 1 team and sharing my expertise and passion for teaching among my new colleagues at NAISAK. I completed my undergraduate degree at Roehampton University in 2013 and went on to teach Reception and Year 1 in the South West of the U.K. for four years. My drive to try new things and experience a new culture was ignited through my experience of teaching in an international school in Bangkok; where I taught Year 1 for two years. Teaching internationally enabled me to embrace a new culture and language and having this experience has given me the skills and knowledge to be a great member of the NAISAK community.

    Michelle Lopmeier

    Year 1 Teacher

    Michelle Lopmeier

My name is Michelle Lopmeier and I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Following High School I lived in Cognac, France for a year as an au pair, improving my French and my taste for French cooking!  After attaining a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Development Studies and Anthropology from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, I fulfilled my dream to see more of the world.  I have travelled extensively in Africa and the Middle East, which fuelled my desire to live abroad to experience the world more fully.  I worked for many years in Canada in school-age day-care and after school programmes and knew that I was meant to work with children.  I received a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 2002 and then moved to Dublin, Ireland.  I taught four, five and six-year olds for 3 memorable years in a school in the north of the city.  It was in Dublin that I met my Irish husband and we have been working and living abroad ever since!  I have lived and worked in Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Muscat and Dubai before coming to Doha.  I have taught children from ages 2-15 and have extensive experience with those students whose first language is not English.

I have decided to work at NAISAK as it is a supportive environment for both teachers and students alike.  The ‘High Five’ guiding principles demonstrate NAISAK’s commitment to achievement and the aim of ambition for all its students. I believe in a classroom that is supportive and accepting of all children of all levels of ability, a place where learning is fun and children can grow to be self-sufficient and confident learners.

    René Leonçe

    Year 1 Teacher

    René Leonçe

I have always enjoyed socialising with, and learning about, people from different nationalities and cultures. It was therefore no surprise that after completing a B.Ed degree at the University of Derby, I made the decision to move abroad and commence my international teaching career. I have had the privilege of working in a range of countries from  the USA  to Cambodia, and I am  incredibly fortunate to have experience teaching all year groups from 1-6, and in my most recent position I worked as a Year 6 teacher.

I am a lively and active teacher who has a propensity to use a variety of media and tactile resources to improve the quality of learning. However children, like adults, are all completely unique and therefore I am constantly adapting my pedagogical methods to meet the needs of the pupils.

Joining NAISAK is the culmination of years of hard work; the school’s ‘child-centred’ approach to teaching and learning complements my teaching methods, and I consider myself very fortunate to be working at a school with such exceptional facilities.
