Before becoming a primary school teacher, I gained some experience in high schools working with pupils who needed support with exams and studying. I really enjoyed it and decided to undertake my teacher training so that I could work with pupils teaching a wider range of skills. I completed my PGCE working with pupils in Years 4 and 5, which was very exciting and informative. Once qualified I started my teaching career in Luton, England and after 2 years decided I wanted to experience teaching abroad. Teaching is something that I thoroughly enjoy, and I have always had a passion for travelling, so I thought it would be a great idea to combine the two. I like the idea of teaching at NAISAK because Nord Anglia supports multi-disciplinary teaching which is something that I find interesting and enjoyable.
This school is different from others I have worked in because it has an online community connecting it to many other schools around the world, and the buzz around the school is absolutely amazing. I enjoy being a part of the Nord Anglia team and enhancing the educational proficiency of my pupils. I have high standards and set expectations for pupils that are fair, and anticipate working alongside parents to ensure pupil targets are reached. I am hardworking and enjoy bringing an element of fun to my lessons, allowing pupils to view learning from a different perspective. I enjoy setting personal targets for pupils to achieve, enabling them to become more confident in areas where they lack self-confidence. This year will be my third year at NAISAK and I cannot wait to get started!
My hobbies and interests outside of travelling include shopping, visiting natural historical features and enjoying the hot weather (Qatar is perfect for me!) I love learning about new cultures and exploring a variety of locations. I have travelled to many places including Mexico, Jamaica, Thailand, Miami and Bali – but there are more on my list! Overall, my personal goal is to not only be a great teacher, but a good leader as I am a role model for younger people wherever I go.
