I have always enjoyed socialising with, and learning about, people from different nationalities and cultures. It was therefore no surprise that after completing a B.Ed degree at the University of Derby, I made the decision to move abroad and commence my international teaching career. I have had the privilege of working in a range of countries from the USA to Cambodia, and I am incredibly fortunate to have experience teaching all year groups from 1-6, and in my most recent position I worked as a Year 6 teacher.
I am a lively and active teacher who has a propensity to use a variety of media and tactile resources to improve the quality of learning. However children, like adults, are all completely unique and therefore I am constantly adapting my pedagogical methods to meet the needs of the pupils.
Joining NAISAK is the culmination of years of hard work; the school’s ‘child-centred’ approach to teaching and learning complements my teaching methods, and I consider myself very fortunate to be working at a school with such exceptional facilities.
For as long as I can remember, I have had a deep fascination with travelling and a desire to see as much of the world as possible, cravings which no doubt were influenced by growing up in a diverse city such as London, England. Although I consider myself very lucky to have travelled all over the world, I harbour ambitions to visit the South Pole in the not-too-distant future.
Outside of work, one of my main hobbies is playing the guitar, something which has been part of my life since I was 17. I currently have eight guitars and was a part of a band at University. Basketball is another one of my passions and I enjoy following my beloved Boston Celtics. With regards to football, I am a long suffering West Ham United fan. Other hobbies include reading (I always try to read one book per month), learning languages, and rock climbing, an activity I led whilst working at a summer camp in the USA.
I have never visited Qatar, but the possibility of living in there has always been intriguing. Needless to say, I look forward to experiencing all the enjoyable activities that Qatar has to offer.
