My teaching roles over the last 15 years have been varied and have exposed me to a variety of experiences. I have mainly been based in Key Stage 2 but I have also worked in EYFS, Key Stage 1 and most recently in the Key Stage 3 additional needs department. Working across these age groups has helped me to understand progression throughout these years.
My first teaching role abroad was in fact here in Qatar, where I worked for another Nord Anglia Education school back in 2012. When the job opportunity arose at NAISAK, I decided to apply because I know that both NAISAK and Nord Anglia put children at the heart of every decision that is made. I also like the idea of being a part of a small, personal team at NAISAK but at the same time, being a part of a national and international community of professionals. I left Qatar in 2015 and moved to Abu Dhabi for two years. I have returned to Qatar a few times since I left – it will always be my second home!
I have always had a global mindset. In fact, one of the reasons why I chose to complete my degree at Sheffield Hallam University was because they offered options to study abroad. As a student I participated in a student exchange programme and lived in Amsterdam for eight months. I love exploring new cities and countries and have travelled to Malaysia, China and Thailand, to name a few.
In my spare time, I enjoy keeping fit and attend dance classes and yoga. This helps to balance my love for baking! I have also started sewing and learning to play the piano. I hope to take up paddle boarding again when I return to Qatar and want to continue to learn to speak Arabic.
I am very much looking forward to returning to Qatar and working with staff and children from all over the world, as part of the NAISAK and Nord Anglia community.
