    Sudipta Chakravorty

    Chemistry Teacher

    Sudipta Chakravorty

I first realised my passion for teaching 23 years ago, when my friends and I started a pre-school in Al Khor, Qatar. It was the first of its kind in Al Khor, and the intent was to build a place that enhances learning and community living.

I have a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry and have a keen interest towards scientific application. With over two decades of experience in education, I now return to NAISAK after a two-year sabbatical. I began my journey in 1999 at another international school in Al Khor, and have worked across a wide range of subjects, age groups and roles that involved design and delivery.

After pursuing my PGCE in 2007 from Sunderland, I taught Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry to secondary students, though my true interest was teaching and doing experiments in Chemistry.

    Reena Singh

    Head of Science

    Reena Singh

I am a Science graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and have gained the iPGCE from a UK university. I have been teaching for twenty years. My husband’s job means that we have travelled a lot, and that is what brought us to Qatar. I have had the opportunity to work in different schools and with different groups of people. Prior to joining Nord Anglia International School Al Khor, I taught Secondary School Physics, worked as a whole-school Activity Coordinator, as well as an Assistant Headmistress.

I began working at NAISAK as a Primary School teacher, and then took on the role of Science Coordinator and Head of Year 4. This year, I will continue to work as the Science Coordinator for the whole school, and teach Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in Secondary.

    Iman Campbell

    Biology Teacher

    Iman Campbell

I'm so excited to join the NAISAK secondary team as a Teacher of Biology.

Science has always been a passion of mine because it answers 'most' of life's big questions. I studied Biomedical Science BSc at King's College London and chose a lot of physiology modules because I love learning about the way the body works on a cellular level. I also did an anatomy module in my second year where I was able to dissect actual human bodies!

Since finishing my undergraduate degree I have completed my teacher training degree and 3 years of teaching post qualifications. I trained and worked at an Ofsted outstanding secondary school in South London prior to moving to Doha. It was a large school with nearly 2000 pupils on roll. I love working with secondary school pupils because every day brings something new, and they never fail to make me laugh.

    Ben Karamyar

    Mathematics Teacher

    Ben Karamyar

I graduated with a first class honours degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Kingston University London, where I chose an optional final year module involving Education, Theory and Practice. This covered the theoretical aspects of teaching, and involved enlightening placements across a variety of secondary schools throughout London. To further pursue my passion for teaching, I went on to complete my PGCE year, where my second work placement was based at an outstanding-rated school in Richmond. Having had a wonderful experience, I was offered a permanent job to stay on at the school, and after completing my NQT year successfully, I became a fully qualified secondary Mathematics teacher.

    Megan Tyre

    Humanities Teacher

    Megan Tyre

I studied at Newcastle University and gained a BA Honours in Geography and Sociology. During my degree, I completed a placement year where I worked at an international school in Saudi Arabia, as well as a recruitment company in Amsterdam. My decision to train as a teacher was solidified during my time in Saudi Arabia. I enjoyed working with young people from many different cultures and backgrounds and helping them to achieve their best, both in and out of lessons.

After completing my degree, I moved to Leeds to start my teacher training year, when I worked at two schools; one in Bradford and another in Leeds. For the last few months I have been working at a school on Ascension Island teaching Geography to the secondary pupils.

    Gurav Singh Sidhu

    Mathematics Lead Teacher

    Gurav Singh Sidhu

Having completed a PGCE in Mathematics from Nottingham University in 2010 I have worked as a Mathematics teacher and Lead Practitioner in Mathematics at secondary schools in and around Leicestershire. I have taught at all secondary key stages and am I equally experienced teaching year 7 mathematicians as I am at teaching year 13 mathematicians. During my time as a teacher, I have always taken a keen interest in extra-curricular activities and have been lucky enough to have taken students on expeditions to Peru and Tanzania. As well as this, I have also been a Duke of Edinburgh leader for the Bronze and Silver Awards. I would like to think of myself of a considerate and patient person; who always listens and treats everyone equally and with respect. Having been a teacher for nearly 10 years I would consider myself to have invaluable experience which I look forward to sharing with everyone at NAISAK. I have always enjoyed teaching and learning about different cultures, therefore when the opportunity to teach in Qatar arose it was too difficult to turn down.

    Ian Coppenhall

Mathematics Teacher and Deputy Leader of the International Awa...

    Ian Coppenhall

Before becoming a teacher I worked for several years in the water sports industry in Spain, Greece and the UK, teaching all ages of students to sail, windsurf, paddleboard and drive powerboats. This led me to becoming a secondary school teacher, combining my love of teaching with my passion for mathematics. I completed my PGCE with Hull University whilst training full time in two different schools in Lincolnshire. My first teaching job after qualifying was in Doha, after which I moved to China, and back again to Qatar to join NAISAK.

    Joseph Hawker

    English Lead Teacher

    Joseph Hawker

My academic background is in English Literature and Film Studies and my passion for these subjects actually started during my second year of taking A-Levels in 2010. This was when I discovered that I wanted to continue my studies in these subjects at Undergraduate level and, in turn, picked up English Literature and Media Studies A-Level in my second year of Further Education, which meant I had to learn the AS courses in my own time – which was a real challenge! At the University of Winchester, I completed my BA Combined Honours in English Literature and Film Studies in 2014 and, during my time at University, I wrote film reviews of independent films in my spare time for a local annual film festival. After completing my degree, I realised that I wanted a career in teaching and started my PGCE at Bath Spa University in September 2014. In 2015, after passing my PGCE, I worked at a school in Warminster, England, where I was also fortunate enough to teach Media Studies at A-Level in my first year of teaching.
