After completing an undergraduate degree in Education Studies at DeMontfort University, I embarked upon a Masters degree in English Language. My experiences at DeMontfort University propelled me to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Leicester. I then began my teaching career and taught at various inner-city schools around Leicestershire. I have taught Key Stages 3 and 4, and I was also afforded the opportunity to teach English to students with special educational needs, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Teaching for me is more than just standing in a classroom, as I enjoy building relationships with students to inspire them to think about how they can utilise their skills beyond the classroom, where they can make positive contributions to the community around them.
I would describe myself as an easy-going and approachable person who takes time to listen and speak to everyone. The interests I have outside of school have also helped me greatly, as I am a keen enthusiast of various sports such as football, boxing and tennis. I also play badminton and go to the gym regularly to stay fit, and to relax I love getting lost in a book.
During the holidays, I love traveling and immersing myself in new cultures to gain rich experiences. In the last few years, I have visited the Middle East, Turkey and travelled around India. This has shaped me as a person as some places have helped me spiritually, whilst others have filled me with joy as I appreciated the raw natural beauty the world has to offer.
The decision to join NAISAK was easy to make, as in my personal life I adhere to the core values of the school and endeavour to raise my own children by them. I also love how the school invests in pupils by collaborating with world-renowned establishments and innovators, something which I feel is critical for our students to experience, to prepare for the world tomorrow.
