Grade 5 – 12 Visual Art

Grade 8 students explored the work of William Blake and chose another illustrator to investigate. They learnt about using water-colour techniques and mark making with fine line markers. They produced an illustration of a chosen song/poem in these artworks. 






Grade 5 students learnt about the ceramic work of Pablo Picasso and used glazes and under glazes to paint a ceramic plate. They were fired in our kiln at 1220 ° C.

Grade 6 students are in the process of creating Pop Art inspired artworks after learning about the work of Claes Oldenburg and Jasper Johns. They are using papier mâché, paper pulp or fabric to create pieces that can be food, icons, symbols or logos.

Grade 7 students examined the artwork of Katsushika Hokasai and have learnt about two different ways of cutting a woodblock to create a relief print. They have produced two experiments and are working on producing a final landscape print.

Grade 9 and 10 students researched sculpture as a medium and the sculptors: Constantin Brancusi, Alexander Calder, Henry Moore and Alberto Giacometti. They were challenged to create their own large pieces of sculpture using a variety of materials to include wire, plaster bandage, clay, papier mâché or paper pulp.
