HOW WE ASSESS AND TRACK PROGRESS

All Key Stage 1 Curriculum and Key Stage 2 Curriculum students have a baseline assessment at the start of the academic year. Using this information, our teachers predict students' attainment for the end of the year and help set individual targets for English and Numeracy. 

These targets are shared with parents, and students then work towards them in class. Gifted and talented students can also be identified at this point, as well as those who need extra support.

As the year progresses, we assess your child in the following ways:

  • Observing them working in their ability groups
  •  Asking them questions or giving them complex problems or tasks to solve
  • Reviewing their completed work
  • Completing end of unit assessments – i.e., after finishing a science unit of work
  • Completing external UK-based assessments (linked to the English National Curriculum)
  • Completing regular online assessments using a formative assessment programme
