Parent Support Groups (PSGs)
Parent Support Groups, or PSGs for short, consist of parent volunteers who are keen to get involved with school life and support the school in initiatives ranging from day-to-day charity work we do to offering opinions and ideas for how the school uniform should develop.
The Nord Anglia International School Guangzhou has a Parent Support Group (PSG) for each phase within the school i.e. one each for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Primary. Each group meets regularly throughout the year with school staff to get updates on activities, offering ideas and support for initiatives. PSG members also spend time within the school each term supporting things like charity work, productions, reading programs or often just offering extra helping hands to the children and staff when needed.
If you would like to get involved with a Parent Support Group, please register your interest with your class teacher.
Parent Representatives
Each class in Early Years and the Primary School asks for one parent volunteer to be the class parent representative for that class. Typical things a ‘Parent Rep’ will get involved with are:
- Liaising with the class teacher helping to share information with other parents in the class.
- Collaborating with the class teacher for events such as school performances, discos, bake sales and family or community events.
- Providing support to class excursions.
- Welcoming new parents to the class
- Representing the class as the parent voice for the class.
Our parent representatives do a lot for others and as such are valued members of our community. If you would like to become a parent representative for your child’s class, the class teacher would be very happy to hear from you so please talk with them directly or simply email us offering support through psg@bsg.org.cn.
