  • What size are your classes?

    Our class sizes are small, with a personalised learning plan for each child to meet their individual needs and develop their interests. There are no more than 20 students in our Foundation 1 classrooms, and our Foundation 2 children learn in classes of up to 22. Foundation 3, primary and secondary student class groups don’t exceed 24, while our IBDP students learn in small groups that average 11 students.

  • What curricula do you teach?

    Our students follow the best in British and international curricula, balancing academic excellence with exceptional learning experiences in and beyond the classroom.

    • Early Years (ages 2-5): Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
    • Primary (ages 5-11): English National Curriculum and International Primary Curriculum (IPC).
    • Secondary (ages 11-16): English National Curriculum, including IGCSEs at Key Stage 4.
    • IB Diploma (ages 16-18): International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
  • Do you prioritise academic success?

  • How do you personalise learning?
    In small class sizes, our teachers take the time to get to know each student, understand their learning preferences, identify their talents and passions, and help them overcome challenges. This ensures every student learns at a pace and rhythm that works for them, and that they enjoy opportunities that motivate and engage.
  • How do you look after student wellbeing?
    Your child’s health, happiness, and wellbeing are our top priority. Our bespoke school programme builds our students’ resilience and gives them the tools they need to look after their physical and emotional health. Our students support one another through our Primary and Secondary Student Councils, which have dedicated mental health teams. And on our exclusive Global Campus platform, you and your child will have access to a wealth of wellbeing activities and resources.
  • Do you provide support for students with additional learning needs?
    We run a successful English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme for students who need extra help with their English speaking, writing, and comprehension. We also offer a programme for students who need supplementary academic, behavioural, or social development support.
  • What after-school activities do you offer?
    We have more than 90 co-curricular clubs and activities, ensuring your child has the chance to not only do what they love, but try new things, too. From sports and creative arts to science and music, our enrichment programme encourages our students to showcase their talents and pursue their curiosities.
  • What excursions and trips do you run?

    Your child will enjoy life-changing day and residential trips that take them to incredible places in Vietnam and overseas. These include global expeditions to Switzerland and Tanzania, where our students grow in confidence and independence, and make lifelong friendships. From Year 3, each age group takes part in annual residential trips to locations across Vietnam, with destinations including Cuc Phuong National Park, Hoi An, and Cat Ba.

  • What are your school hours and where can I find the calendar?

    School starts at 8:30 am and finishes at 3:05 pm, Monday to Friday. The day is broken into six periods, with a morning and lunch break.

  • Do you provide lunch?
    Our in-house caterers prepare healthy, nutritious lunches every day. These are included in your child’s tuition fees. Our kitchen facilities are regularly inspected to ensure the highest hygiene standards.
  • Do you operate a bus service?
    Our school buses provide a pick-up and drop-off service that covers most districts in Hanoi. The cost depends on where you live.
  • Do your students wear a uniform?
    Yes, all our students – from Foundation 1 upwards – wear our practical, comfortable uniform with pride. Your child’s uniform is included in your tuition fees, and you can collect the items you need from our shop on campus.
  • How can I get involved in school life?
    Open to all families, our Friends of BIS parent group fosters a real sense of community spirit and togetherness. They organise fun activities throughout the year, including fitness sessions, Vietnamese language lessons, and cookery classes. They also organise social events, including brunches and tours of Hanoi, as well as projects that benefit the wider community. 
  • How do you communicate with parents?
    We’ll keep in touch with you by email and face to face, and give you exciting updates about the school day on social media through the BIS Hanoi Facebook page and Friends of BIS Facebook group. You’ll follow your child’s learning journey through achievement diaries, parent evenings, one-to-one meetings, and our online Class Dojo community for primary students.
