PATHWAY 2

Pathway 2 follows the same curriculum as the mainstream Pathway 1 provision, but offers greater levels of support in smaller classes, with a higher teacher:student ratio and where the outcomes are adjusted for each individual student. Students in the Pathway 2 provision receive a termly Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to support their learning and outcomes further.

Primary Pathway 2

Students in Primary Pathway 2 are taught in classes of 8-10 students by an experienced SEN teacher, and a teaching assistant to provide the support and differentiation needed.

Classes are twinned with a mainstream class for non-academic subjects to enable students to learn and socialise with their wider peer group, whilst receiving support to move to greater independence in academic subjects. Where suitable, individual students also integrate into a Pathway 1 mainstream class for academic subjects when they are ready and can access the curriculum independently.

Secondary Pathway 2

In Secondary school, all Pathway 2 students are part of a mainstream form group, led by a form tutor as well as having an additional Pathway 2 Mentor. Both will support the pastoral needs of the student. All students following the Pathway 2 provision will have individual sessions with their Pathway 2 Mentor. This focuses on goal setting and gives the student an opportunity to gain further support with any issues affecting their learning. The core subjects English, Mathematics and Science are taught in smaller groups with additional support where needed. Literacy support and ASDAN courses are offered alongside the mainstream curriculum.

In Key Stage 4 we offer students the opportunity to access a range of iGCSE courses as well as alternative courses that focus on English, Mathematics as well as life skills and employability through ASDAN programmes and vocational qualifications, such as the International BTEC Level 1 in Business. ASDAN is widely recognised as an engaging curriculum that empowers students through personalised learning and choice. The courses motivate and enhance students' confidence, self-esteem, and resilience. In addition, students develop core skills in teamwork, communication, problem solving, research and self-management. For students in Years 12 and 13 we offer the more vocational International BTEC Level 2 in Business, alongside the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and IB Courses.
