DCIS Drama Thrives in Term 2

DCIS Drama Thrives in Term 2 - DCIS Drama Thrives in Term 2

As we conclude another dynamic and jampacked term, it thrills us to reflect on the fantastic journey our Drama Department continues to undertake. Term 2 has once again been bursting with engaging and inspiring experiences, aimed at deepening our students’ love for the performing arts. From exciting theatre trips to showcasing student talent, each endeavour has contributed to our collective growth.

Throughout the term, students in all year groups were offered the opportunity to participate in enriching theatre trips, with Year 7 experiencing the fun and joy of ‘Madagascar the Musical’ at Esplanade Theatre and Years 8 -12 attending the magical ‘Matilda the Musical’ at the Sands Theatre, MBS. Both shows were spectacular, providing invaluable opportunities for our young theatre-makers to be inspired by the creativity and talent of professional performers, igniting their passion and broadening their theatrical horizons. Our GCSE Drama Showcase also provided an exciting opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of classical texts, showcasing their phenomenal understanding of language and how to communicate nuanced meaning to an audience. Complementing these experiences, our LAMDA programme saw students diligently preparing for their exams, highlighting our commitment to nurturing talent, dedication, and passion in this subject. Rehearsals for ‘Wendy and Peter’ have been well underway, with students embodying commendable commitment as they prepare for upcoming performances in Term 3, promising an exciting final term ahead.
