Dover Court End of Term 2 2023-2024 Primary Message - Dover Court End of Term 2 2023-2024 Primary Message

Dear Dover Court Families,

As we bid farewell to another term here at Dover Court Primary, it's time to reflect on the many achievements, celebrations and growth that have marked our journey over the last 12 weeks.

While Term 2 was only two-thirds of the length of Term 1, we still managed to include a huge array of learning opportunities, events, shows, camps, achievements and celebrations. It feels like a long time ago that we started the term engaging in an array of challenges, experiments and learning experiences with our visitors from MIT.

This term has provided lots of opportunities for us to engage our community with our learning. Alongside our regular Parent-Teacher Conferences, meetings and school reports, we have also had parents onsite to experience our Early Years Showcases of learning and our Year 4 and Year 5 IPC unit exit points, where the children took the lead in sharing their learning with pride.

Children across a range of year groups enjoyed the centre stage theatre shows, Year 6 explored the zoo, Year 3 visited the Asian Civilisations Museum and we also celebrated Book Week together with a celebration of reading and some super creative book character outfits. In addition to book week, we’ve had Safer Internet Week, Neurodiversity Week and the Lunar Temple Fair.

We’ve enjoyed our children's performances in assemblies, sharing their learning, raising awareness and marking global events such as International Women’s Day and World Water Day. There have been musical Splat performances at the canteen and in Cooper Hall. We also revealed a wealth of varied talent in the Dover’s Got Talent Shows.

Our sports teams did us proud in their ACSIS competitions and fixtures and we cheered on the Year 3s and 4s during their swim galas. Our Year 6s also made memories to last a lifetime on their camp at Tioman. Even today, we had Year 5s visiting the Art Science Museum.

All of this has happened against a backdrop of continued learning, reflection and play. A big thank you to our Primary Team who have done so much to facilitate these rich experiences. I think it is time for us all to have a well-deserved rest!

If you are travelling during the school break or staying here in Singapore, I wish all our families all the best and a Happy Hari Raya.

Take care,

Dave Buckley
